London Eye - Bigest Wheel

London Eye, the world's largest wheel, allows view as far as 25 miles away on a clear day. It gives panoramic view of all of the major renowned structures of London, including the Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, St. Paul's Cathedral, Covent Garden, etc. It has been a popular choice for a full range of special occasions and events in the city. But aside from its enormous size and world-wide popularity, do you really know the London Eye? Here are some interesting facts you might not know about this giant wheel:

* The London Eye is actually not a giant Ferris wheel; rather it's a cantilevered observation wheel.

* With an average of 3.5 million visitors a year, London Eye accommodates more visitors than the Great Pyramid of Giza and Taj Mahal per year combined.

* The capsule moves at a leisurely 26cm per second, that's 30 minutes per rotation, which is about twice as fast of a tortoise sprinting, giving you more time to see all the wonderful sights around London on a clear day. All in all, it turns about 60,000 times a year.

* The wheel can carry 800 passengers per turn, that's equal to 11 London red double d-decker buses.

* There are 32 capsules in the wheel, and they are numbered 1 - 33, as the unlucky number 13 was taken out. Each weighs 10 tons and carries up to 15,000 visitors each day of operation.

* Each capsule holds up to 25 guests, and other options include Champagne Capsule, Champagne and Canapes Private Capsule, Brunch Capsule, Vinopolis Wine Tasting Capsule, Afternoon Team Capsule, Green and Black's Chocolate Tasting Capsule, etc.

* The total weight of the whole wheel including its 32 capsules is about 2,100 tons, that's equivalent to 1,272 London black cabs.

* The circumference of the London Eye is at 424 meters (or 11.392ft), if stretched, it would be 1.75 times longer than the One Canada Square in Canary Wharf, the tallest building in UK today.

* The height of the wheel is 135 meters, nearly thrice as high as the Tower Bridge and four times wider than the world's famous dome of St Paul's Cathedral.

* The spindle that holds the whole structure is at 23 meters tall, around the size of the spire of the church, while its hub that rotates the spindle weighs about 330 tons, about 30 times heavier than the whole Big Ben.

* The wheel consumes 150 kW to turn, that's about 100 vacuum cleaners working at the same time.

London Eye is open to public everyday, except of course on Christmas Day and on its 10-day annual maintenance (usually during mid-January). The operation starts at 10.00 am until 8pm, but during high summer it ends as late as 9.30pm.

Though there are lots of same-day tickets for sale on site, booking is highly advised, as weekends and holidays tend to sell out in advance. Or for more information about the big wheel, you can click http://bestonferriswheel.com/giant-ferris-wheel-for-sale/ http://WWW.bestonferriswheel.com/
